Preface |
The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation currently operates a fleet of 94 vehicles across various departments, including the Fire Department, General Administration, Health, Medical Health, and the Plantation & Tree Authority. These vehicles consist of a diverse range—such as cars, tempos, tractors, mobile jeeps, Mahindra Maximos, ambulances, hearses, fire rescue vans, water tenders, and tankers. They are utilized by key departments like the General Administration, Health, Medical Health, Fire Services, Parks & Forests, and Water Supply for routine and emergency operations. Vehicle repairs and maintenance are carried out as per need and by established price lists issued by the Corporation. However, the current number of Corporation-owned vehicles is insufficient to meet the growing operational demands of office bearers and departmental officials. To bridge this gap, the Vehicle Department procures rental vehicles (with fuel and full service) through approved annual tenders. Moreover, essential departments such as the Fire Services, Medical Health, and Parks & Forests operate vehicles in three shifts daily. Due to a shortage of permanent drivers, the Corporation engages contractual drivers via annual tenders, who are remunerated at minimum wage rates specified in the tender documents. In addition, office bearers and officials who utilize personal vehicles for official Corporation duties are provided with vehicle allowances, as per the resolutions passed by the Hon'ble Standing Committee. |
Duties and functions:- |
To monitor and plan the vehicles of the Municipal Corporation. To make repairs to the vehicles from time to time, to supply fuel, to pay vehicle allowance to the office bearers/officials, and as per the demand of the department, to supply contract vehicles as per the approved rate in the tender with the approval of the Hon'ble Commissioner, etc., and to supply vehicles and contract drivers on a contract basis in various departments of the Municipal Corporation for essential services, emergencies, etc. Administrative Officer ( Vehicle ) acting as Public Information Officer to provide information to applicants. |
