Introduction: |
In any country, the Fire Service is considered the fourth line of defense, the other three being the armed forces. The importance of the fire service has been proven not only during wartime but also in times of peace. With the continuous expansion of urban settlements, industrial development, and population growth, the relevance and need for fire services continue to rise. The duties of the fire service are not limited to saving lives and property from fire and minimizing its impact. They also include rescuing people and animals trapped in closed drains, wells, elevators, or other mechanical equipment. In short, during emergencies or crises, fire service personnel's courage and specialized training in handling equipment prove invaluable in assisting the public. Generally, the role of the fire service includes fire protection, fire prevention, and minimizing the loss of life and property by using the service effectively. Hence, at every level, it is essential to have a stable, strong, efficient, and exemplary organization. The functioning of the fire service is governed by the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006. |
