With the amalgamation of five Gram Panchayats, Mira Bhayandar
Municipality was established on 12 June 1985, after which four Gram Panchayats
namely Raimurdhe, Dongri, Uttan and Versova were incorporated on 23 January
1990. Surrounding this municipality directly from Dahisar Cheknakya is Sanjay
Gandhi National Park Vanrai, Ghodbunder Fort, Vasai Bay, Uttan, Gorai Beach
totaling 79.40 Sq. km Mira Bhayandar city is a city endowed with natural beauty
in such an area. As per the population growth, the municipality was converted
into a municipal corporation on 28 February 2002, Mitta Bhayandar city has a
total population of 8,09,378 as per the 2011 census and the population is increasing
day by day as the city is developing. As the population of the city is
increasing at almost double the rate at which the city is developing, it is
putting a strain on the civic services facilities available near the Municipal
Corporation. Therefore, even though it is sometimes difficult for the
administration to provide civic facilities, the municipal corporation is trying
to provide maximum services to the citizens.
